You’ve spent months – possibly even years – envisioning every detail of your dream wedding day, but what will happen after you wake up as newlyweds? Will you pack your bags and jet set on that dream honeymoon right away? Or, perhaps you’ll soak in the newlywed bliss surrounded by your family and friends for a few days, even months, before taking that first vacation with your new spouse. Regardless of whether you’re heading on a honeymoon soon after, or if you’re waiting a little while to recharge for your exciting adventure, we’re outlining five honeymoon ideas to inspire your own plans.
First off, congratulations! This is such an exciting time in your lives and one that should be savored. When it comes to honeymooning, there are a few ways to go about it, taking your travel and planning preferences into consideration. Today, we aren’t getting into so much of the nitty gritty of planning, but rather, giving you inspiration for what’s possible.
Saint Lucia
For the couple ready to kick up their heels, relax and recharge, all while being in a gorgeous place, St. Lucia is the perfect destination. We get it, planning a wedding can be a lot, and a wedding weekend can leave you emotionally full yet exhausted. Plus, you might not have a ton of time-off leftover to jet-set across the world. In St. Lucia, you don’t have to sacrifice activities for ease of travel and relaxation. There’s a reason this destination consistently tops the lists of top honeymoon destinations. From the gorgeous Pitons to the volcanic beaches, there’s no shortage of relaxation or adventure.
Greek Islands
Have a bit more time to set aside for your honeymoon? Setting out to tour the islands of Greece just might be the perfect adventure to start off your newlywed life. Long-haul travel can be tiring, so evaluate how many stops could be the perfect pace. Our recommendation is to spend a minimum of three nights in each destination to get a feel for the area, especially when you’re likely already tired from a wedding! There are so many incredible islands to choose from, but Santorini, Mykonos, Naxos and Corfu are a few to get your search started.
French Riviera
With this suggestion, I’m definitely biased! My husband and I chose to honeymoon in France, taking three-weeks to explore various regions. It truly is the most incredible trip I’ve ever been on and recommend the French Riviera to so many couples. Even if you’re working off a condensed timeline, it’s easy to fly into Nice, using the city as a jumping off point for much of the southern parts of France. Enjoy the city, beach and day trips from Nice, or venture to the instagram worthy St. Tropez region. Whether you’re looking for adventure, culture, relaxation – or perhaps a mix – the French Riviera is home to it all!
Bali
I get it, jet setting around the world mere days after your wedding isn’t for the faint of heart, but there’s a reason Bali is loved by so many. Whether you’re looking for beaches, nature or cultural activities, the island of Bali is full of luxury, great food and warm hospitality… all at an incredibly affordable price. If you’re going to make the trip, I recommend setting aside a minimum of two-weeks, while longer would actually be better. If you have the time, the trip is most definitely worth it!
Hawaii
There’s the reason so many people head to Hawaii for their honeymoon each year. Through our sister wedding planning company, Ivory Couture, we have a large number of clients who head for the island life each year, and for good reason! From world-class resorts to renowned beaches, the islands of Hawaii have so much to offer. Shopping, beaches, outdoor activities and incredible restaurants, the island life provides honeymooners with endless possibilities. Bonus? There’s really no bad time to visit because the weather is usually warm and sunny year-round. If you’re looking for natural beauty, rich culture, and a variety of experiences, the popular Hawaiian islands just might be the perfect fit.
